Hi there! I’m Andrew, and I’m passionate about communication. I’ve seen too many talented people miss out on opportunities and relationships – not because of their skills, experience, or personality, but because they didn’t have the skills to express their value to others.
Now, I’ve made it my mission to teach people how to marry their natural, authentic style with proven techniques in interpersonal communication, negotiation, leadership, and sales.
I combine my many years of experience as a salesperson and executive with my decades of stage performance experience, bringing a multi-disciplinary approach to my communication and leadership coaching style. I’m convinced this diverse background makes me uniquely equipped to teach people the skills they need to convey confidence, inspire trust, build relationships, and communicate effectively.
We'll ask the hard questions: What do you want? Who do you want it from? What are you doing now, and how is it holding you back? Any journey of transformation begins with self-awareness. No judgement - just honesty.
We'll dive into "problem solving mode." We'll talk about solutions, decide in which directions to leave our comfort zone, and cooperate on making an action plan to learn the skills you need.
We'll work on developing your skills. Skillfulness takes time, practice, and constant refinement so that you can weild your new communication powers comfortably and effectively. This stage can last as long as you're motivated to continue your growth.
After we work on your skills together, you'll be ready to use your freshly leveled-up skills in the real world. You'll be able to strategically apply what you've learned in your coaching sessions and start to see outcomes change for the better.
Well, both... but actually even more than that.
The difference between coaching & consulting is hotly debated in the coaching community.
Coaching, according to the ICF, consists of "partnering with a client in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential."
Consulting, on the other hand, usually refers to a subject matter expert helping someone analyze a problem and provides a solution based on their expertise.
When we think about learning skills, though, sometimes we also require training - introduction to new ideas and techniques, and led practice to hone and apply them. My goal is to make as much progress as we can in as little time as possible, and I've found that these three teaching styles (what I call the Skills Coaching Triad) synergize perfectly to give you the best coaching experience possible.
Coaching helps you think more deeply about yourself, your values, your skills, and your goals. This is an essential part of growth, and your coach will act as your thinking partner by asking questions, challenging assumptions, and encouraging self-awareness.
Training provides the "how to" part of becoming a more skilled communicator. While the coaching approach allows you to dig deep and discover answers that might already be hidden within yourself, training will teach you more concrete concepts and techniques, curating a safe space for you to practice them.
Consulting is the most straightforward - sometimes, we just need someone to tell us what works, what doesn't, and what to do. While it's important that the skills and solutions you learn feel authentic to you, it's also important to draw on others' experience at times.
Everyone brings their own unique skills, experiences, and concerns along with them. My goal is to meet you where you are, erode your self-doubt, and teach you skills that will highlight your natural strengths and lead you to become a high-impact leader and communicator.
During your first session, expect to spend some time uncovering what's most important to you and what's holding you back. You'll set goals that are unique to you and work towards them until you feel more comfortable and confident. Of course, sometimes, goals change. I'll adjust with you as necessary always with the end in mind.
Let's start by admitting that change comes with work. This kind of coaching is based on learning skills and techniques that will make you a more powerful communicator and leader. To master them, I'll also teach you how to practice your new skills in the real world until they become permanent tools in your arsenal.
We are all communicating constantly – both verbally and non-verbally – whether we intend to or not. The goal of communication coaching is to make you aware of how you communicate and teach you skills to control your message and use your voice to be more influential and more successful.
Almost any verbal or non-verbal communication skill can be coached and, with practice, improved. Some examples of communication skills are:
As you may imagine, there are plenty of communication techniques that apply to multiple situations. Most people work on a few techniques that apply to various facets of their careers and lives.
For some ideas on how we combine skills towards a particular goal, check out the Coaching Programs page.
Communication coaching – coaching in general, really – is highly personal. Having taken a variety of coaching in my career, I’m sensitive to this and want to make sure that we feel comfortable with each other before making a commitment.
During our first meeting (usually about 30 minutes), you’ll have an opportunity to describe the communication challenges you’re experiencing and the goals you hope to achieve. I’ll strive to make the session enlightening and helpful so your time feels well-spent. Afterward, if we feel it’s a good fit, I’ll propose a short-term plan (usually 1-3 months) to help you reach your goals.
Some people feel the progress they want after our first meeting. Some continue to take coaching for months or years. Every individual is unique, and so is every coaching plan.
I encourage you to commit to a course to maximize your progress during our time together. If you’re not able to do that, you can also enroll in coaching sessions one-at-a-time.
Coaching is an investment, and for many people it’s the most amount of money they’ve spent on their professional development outside of college.
In general, I offer 3 one-on-one coaching options:
A substantial discount for students is available, as well as a discount for active and retired military personnel. Get in touch if you fall into one of those categories.
We always discuss pricing thoroughly during the first coaching call. If you’d like to discuss it before the session, please get in touch and we can schedule a phone call.
Any coaching course will include:
